2011, we’re ending with a *facepalm*December 31, 2011
So here we are on December 31, 2011. That, of course, means that everyone is doing all sorts of wrap up posts and Top 10 lists and such. And, yes, i’m going to so some of the same. But first:
Apparently my brain has decided that it needs to get some extra dumb out before the new year and it has been utterly facepalm-y but in a really amusing way so i figured i would share with you. These have all been within the past few days but i’m only sharing two with you.
1. i was playing Scrabble the other night with two other people and one of them picked up some letters and put down P-O-N-D and then there was a pause and she put down E-R. Well i guess my mind really focused on the pond part because once the “er” was added i was baffled. i kept thinking i had no idea what this word was and then figured it was a biology term or something and it must be something that you would call a frog or other animal that lives in a pond. You know, a pond-er. Once i realized the word was ponder i felt like a complete moron (who couldn’t stop laughing at herself.)
2. Last night i was reading Twitter and saw someone’s post about maybe going to see the Iowa Cactus. Immediately i was all, “WHA???” Because i’m from Iowa and i don’t know anything about this cactus. Then i start seeing other people talking about the Iowa Cactus and i’m getting sort of upset because i don’t know what it is and i feel like if it really is that big of a deal that my Iowa people would have told me or i would have read about it. So just as i’m about to google the whole thing i realize that there is no Iowa Cactus – it’s the Iowa Caucus. *sigh*
Anyway, i haven’t been around much because i’ve been Holiday-ing. That is, i’ve been trying to experience all the holiday magic i can and seeing as i live in Orlando there’s a lot of it. That meant seeing a whole lot of Gingerbread displays and buying a cookie from someone working in an actual Gingerbread House. Seeing the best Christmas light display ever. Making a Santa Mold-a-Rama. Taking treats to my favorite employees at the mall. And too many other things to remember. Needless to say i’ve been having a blast but i am ready to slow down just a bit.
Anyway, here are my Top 11 pictures of the year (not really about quality just that they remind me of different things and i love them personally) If you want to know more about any of them just leave me a comment and let me know.
So there you go. i was going to talk about books and movies and such too but i’ll wait for another post for that. i hope all of you have a wonderful New Year’s Eve. If i could be anywhere in the world i would be celebrating with my Grandma- we would watch old tv shows and play games and at midnight we would drink sparkling grape juice out of crystal champagne flutes and bang on pots and pans and throw confetti (at least that’s what we used to do when i was little.)
